Employment Laws in California
California is an at-will employment state. This means that employees can choose to quit working for their employer and employers can terminate an employee for any reason or no reason. However, there are exceptions to the general rule of at-will employment.
State and federal employment laws prohibit employers from discriminating against employees based on race, gender, age, disability, religion, ethnicity and national origin. California state law prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation as well.
