What to Expect During Our First Meeting

To determine whether our firm will be able to represent you, it is first necessary for us to meet with you in person in our office. Although we will have some knowledge of your claims prior to meeting with you, this meeting will be our first chance to have an in-depth discussion of your claims and to evaluate their merit. This is also the first chance we will have to get to know you as a person.

During the meeting we will ask you detailed questions about your claims. Please plan on the meeting lasting at least one and one-half hours. We encourage you to create a timeline of events and bring it with you to the meeting. Many past clients have found it helpful to write down key facts and dates prior to meeting with us. Not only does this make the meeting more efficient, but it also helps our clients remember everything that has happened. We will also ask you questions about your work and personal history during the meeting. The more information we have about you, the more prepared we will be to determine whether it is appropriate for our firm to represent you and, if so, to tailor our representation to suit your needs.

It is essential that, when you meet with us, you bring with you all of the documents relevant to your claims. Generally speaking, please bring all documents related to your employment. In particular, please bring the following:

  • Paystubs
  • Employee handbooks
  • Documents related to your hiring by the employer
  • Documents related to your termination by the employer
  • A copy of your resume
  • Documents which identify your job duties for the employer
  • Documents which identify the hours you worked for the employer, including timesheets
  • Correspondence between you and the employer, including emails
  • Performance reviews
  • Write-ups or written reprimands
  • Medical records (if your claim relates to your medical condition)
  • A list of potential witnesses and their contact information
  • Voice mails, text messages and gifts (if your claim relates to harassment)
  • Documents related to previous lawsuits or claims against an employer
  • Any and all other documents or items related to your employment and/or your claims

Our meeting is also an opportunity for you to learn about the legal process and what to expect. Please feel free to ask any questions you have about the process or our firm, as it is our goal to keep you informed.

We look forward to meeting with you.
